The Day After....

The weekend that passed by has to be the best weekend ever!! To start with I got something which I had never thought I will!! Well, I got the babe of the week award on Femme Fatale. :) Jus too happy to write how I feel. And now abt the encounter that was the most crucial one for me.Yes, it happened on Sunday. Kartik (my bf) arrived with his dad at 12.30 p.m and I cant tell u how nervous I was. I said a coy namaste to his dad, he smiled at me and all my bf gave me was a devilish grin! (I m sure he was thoroughly enjoying the whole experience)

Then started the conversation between my parents and his dad.and it seemed to go on and on..all I did was smile like a small puppy witnessing the whole encounter. The conversation was mostly about common things, and it didnt include marriage coz this was the first time his dad was meeting us. And the meeting was just meant to know each other better, well that stands good for the parents and not me and Kartik! ;) Anyways, then I went to the kitchen with my mom like an obedient daughter and returned with some pineapple juice for my future fil, my dad and Kartik. I could see Kartik grinning again, he was finding all this a bit too funny!!

He somehow couldnt imagine me behaving like a shy, coy girl who was trying her level best to impress her future fil. He actually even followed me to the kitchen a couple of times and guess what? He was having interesting animated conversations with my mom abt me and making fun of me!! At times I felt like hitting him, but this was not the right time to do that. :P

Soon, it was time for lunch to be served. I again went back to the kitchen and assisted my mom in warming up the dishes in the microwave. The table had been already set by me in the morning before they came. In case all of u are wondering if I spoke at all, yes I did a couple of times when Kartiks dad asked me about what am I doing and wheres my office and stuff like that. :) Thankfully I didnt get grilled at all, may be bcoz there was nothing much to ask, I have met Kartiks mom before and I am sure she must have passed on some information about me. I think he was just observing my behavior and mannerisms.

I hope I was able to impress him! Which btw I did, came to know from the fb that I got from Kartik once they left. Thats the advantage of knowing the guy from before, he overheard the conversation between his parents and he heard his dad saying that we make a good pair!! *blush blush* Yes, we now have the nod of approval from both the sides.oh I can hear the wedding bells ringing at a distance now.

After the big luncheon, I slept for a while and in the evening I tried the new Thai Spa which has opened in my locality. :) I went for a one hr foot massage and I almost dozed off in the process. Everything was amazing, the ambience of the spa, the technique and of course the cute Thai guy who gave me the hr long massage! *wink wink* So this is how the eventful weekend came to an end!! *all smiles*

You Are Carefree in Life

You are the life of the party. You also are completely uninhibited and honest.

You are the happiest when you are planning and dreaming. You like to live in the future.

When You Are Comfortable:

You are a sensitive, gentle soul. You want to save the world... or as much of it as possible.

People see you as unselfish and well mannered. You truly enjoy being around others, and it shows.

Happy Days Are Here Again....

Some interesting cartoons to start the day, and an excerpt on why luck matters:

With a pile of 300 resumes on his desk and a need to pick someone quickly, my boss told me to make calls on the bottom 50 and toss the rest. "Throw away 250 resumes?" I asked, shocked."What if the best candidates are in there?"
"You have a point," he said. "But then again, I don't need people with bad luck here."

Update:

Yes, i am happy today coz my colleague is finally back from her long vacation and i am just a day away from the weekend!! :P Yippeee...looking forward to a gr8 weekend. Saturday, i am planning to meet a very old b-school friend of mine for lunch, i also plan to try out a new Thai Spa that has come up in my area. And Sunday is gonna be super special coz my bf's dad is coming down to Mumbai and he will be coming over for lunch. Wish me luck guys, super nervous about this whole affair!!

When the going gets tough...

Phew!! What a day it was. Work wise it wasn't that bad considering the fact that my boss is not gonna be here for this whole week and my colleague who was on leave all this while is gonna be back day after tomorrow. So its just one more day and i will be free from the additional responsibilities that i had been taking care of from the past 2 weeks!! : /

But what was tiresome was the work out session that i had today....i think my trainer is hell bent on killing me!! I had cardio today, and he had asked me to get ankle and wrist weights. I got ankle weights for both my legs of 2 kgs each, and 1kg each for my wrists. In case u don't know how they look here they are:

I did my whole work out today wearing these weights and man it was tough!! It felt like i was in jail and i was being subjected to third degree torture. And these are the exercises that i did apart from 15 mins each of treadmill, elliptical trainer and spinning. Apart from the ones below i also did some 200 odd crunches.

Anyways, thats all from my side tonight, i am gonna crash now....don't think i have the stamina/energy to write anything more. Good night guys n gals!!

The 21st Century Bride

A newly wed girl was being welcomed at her husband's home in a traditional manner. She was asked to give a little speech. This is what she had to say:

"My dear family members, I thank you for welcoming me to my new home and family", she said "Firstly, i would not want to create any inconveniences by my being here. I mean that I don't want you all to change your way of life, your routine."

"What do you mean my child?" asked the patriarch of the family.

She said: What I mean dad is:

Those who used to wash dishes must carry on washing them.

Those who used to do the laundry must carry on doing it.

Those who cooked shouldn't stop on my account.

Those who used to clean should clean.

As for me, I am here just to control your son!

This is what u call a 21st Century bride!! :) Have a happy weekend guys n gals!!

Memories We'll Forever Ignite....

Money has no memory, experience has.

You will never know what the total cost of your education was, but for a lifetime you will recall and relive the memories of school and college.

Few years from now, youll forget the amount you paid to settle the hospitalization bill, but youll cherish the memory of having saved your mother's life or the life you get to live with the just born.

You won't remember the cost of your honeymoon, but youll remember the experiences of the bliss of togetherness till the last breath.

Money has no memory, experience has.

Good times and bad times, times of prosperity and times of poverty, times when the future looked so secure and times when you didn't know from where the tomorrow will come.

Life has been in one way or the other a roller-coaster ride for everyone. Beyond all that abundance and beyond all that deprivation, what remains is the memory of experiences.

Sometimes the wallet was full.sometimes the pocket was empty. There was enough and you still had reasons to frown. There wasn't enough and you still had reasons to smile.

Today, you can look back with tears of gratitude for all the times you had laughed together, and also look back with a smile at all the times you cried alone. All in all, life filled you with experiences to create a history of your own self, and you alone can remember them all.

The first time you balanced yourself on your cycle without support
The first time she said 'yes' when you proposed
The first crythe first stepsthe first wordthe first kiss
The first gift you bought for your parents and the first gift your daughter gave you
The first awardthe first public appreciationthe first stage performance

And the list is endlessAll experiences, with timeless memory
No denying that anything that's material costs money, but the fact remains that the cost of the experience will be forgotten, but the experience never!

So, what if it's economic recession? Let it be, but let there not be a recession to the quality of your life.

You can still take your parents, if not on a pilgrimage, at least to Church.
You can still play with your children, if not on an international holiday, at least in the local park.
It doesn't cost money to lie down or to take a loved one onto your lap.
Nice time to train the employees, build leadership and be ready for the so called wonderful times when they arrive (for perspective - even NOW can be a wonderful time!).

Hey! Aspects like your health, knowledge development and spiritual growth are not economy dependent.

Time will passeconomy will revivecurrency will soon be in demandand in all this, I don't want you to look back and realize, you did nothing but stayed in gloom.

Recession can make you lose out on money. Let it not make you lose out on experiencesIf you are not happy with what you have, no matter how much more you have, you will still not be happy.

Make a statement with the way you live your life: How I feel has nothing to do with how much I have.

A Political Post

A few years ago, Prime Minister Mori was given some basic English conversation skills training before he went to Washington and to meet president Bill Clinton...

The instructor told Mori Prime Minister, when you shake hand with President Clinton, please say 'how r u?'. Then Mr. Clinton should say, 'I am fine, and you?'

Now, you should say 'me too'. Afterwards we, translators, will do the work for you. It looks quite simple, but the truth is...

When Mori met Clinton, he mistakenly said 'Who r u?' (instead of 'How r u?')

Mr. Clinton was a bit shocked but still managed to react with humor: 'Well, I am Hillary's husband, ha-ha...'

Then Mori replied 'me too'

Then there was a long silence in the meeting room.....

Are You Guilty??

This post is going to be about the seven sins. I am sure most of us must have seen these words in Mayz's blog. But do we know why is it called 7 sins!? Lemme tell u, the seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, are a classification of the most objectionable vices that have been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct followers concerning (immoral) fallen man's tendency to sin. They are: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.
But why do you think are these called capital sins?? These sins are called the capital sins because they destroy charity in the person's heart and thus may lead to final impenitence and eternal death. Let's see the real connotation of each of these seven deadly sins. They are:

1. Lust: Lust (or lechery) is usually thought of as excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. Giving in to lusts can lead to sexual or sociological compulsions and/or transgressions including (but not limited to) sexual addiction, fornication, adultery, perversion, and incest. Here the penitent walks within flames to purge himself of lustful/sexual thoughts and feelings.

2. Gluttony: Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered a sin because of the excessive desire for food, or its withholding from the needy.
Depending on the culture, it can be seen as either a vice or a sign of status. Where food is relatively scarce, being able to eat well might be something to take pride in (although this can also result in a moral backlash when confronted with the reality of those less fortunate). Where food is routinely plentiful, it may be considered a sign of self-control to resist the temptation to over-indulge.

3. Greed: Greed (or avarice, covetousness) is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed is applied to the acquisition of wealth in particular. St. In this case the penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too much on earthly thoughts. "Avarice" is more of a blanket term that can describe many other examples of greedy behavior. These include disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason especially for personal gain, for example through bribery. Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by greed.

4. Sloth: Sloth is defined as spiritual and/or actual apathy, putting off what God asks you to do, or not doing it or anything at all. Sloth can also concern wasting due to lack of use or allowing entropy, expanding into almost any person, place, thing, skills, or intangible ideal that would require maintenance, refinement and/or support to continue to exist. However, Sloth happens to be considered as a less serious sin as compared to the others.

5. Wrath: Wrath (or anger or "Rage") may be described as inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger. These feelings can manifest as vehement denial of the truth, both to others and in the form of self-denial, impatience with the procedure of law, and the desire to seek revenge outside of the workings of the justice system and generally wishing to do evil or harm to others. The transgressions borne of vengeance are among the most serious, including murder, assault, and in extreme cases, genocide.

Wrath is the only sin not necessarily associated with selfishness or self-interest (although one can of course be wrathful for selfish reasons, such as jealousy, closely related to the sin of envy). The sin of wrath also encompassed anger pointed internally rather than externally. Thus suicide was deemed as the ultimate, albeit tragic, expression of wrath directed inwardly, a final rejection of God's gifts.

6. Envy: Like greed, envy may be characterized by an insatiable desire; they differ, however, for two main reasons. First, greed is largely associated with material goods, whereas envy may apply more generally. Second, those who commit the sin of envy resent that another person has something they perceive themselves as lacking, and wish the other person to be deprived of it. The punishment for the envious is to have their eyes sewn shut with wire because they have gained sinful pleasure from seeing others brought low.

7. Pride: In almost every list pride (or hubris) is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and indeed the ultimate source from which the others arise. It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to acknowledge the good work of others, and excessive love of self. One definition of pride in the first sense comes from Augustine: "the love of one's own excellence."

In perhaps the best-known example, the story of Lucifer, pride (his desire to compete with God) was what caused his fall from Heaven, and his resultant transformation into Satan. Here the penitents were forced to walk with stone slabs bearing down on their backs in order to induce feelings of humility.

Ok, now that we know what the 7 deadly sins are, the obvious question that arises in our mind is that what is supposed to be a good virtue if these are considered to be sins. The seven virtues which correspond inversely to each of the seven deadly sins are:

Vice Vs Virtue
Lust ---------- Chastity
Gluttony ---- Temperance
Greed ------- Charity
Sloth -------- Diligence
Wrath ------- Patience
Envy --------- Kindness
Pride -------- Humility

So tell me ppl, which of these sins are a part of u?? In my case i would say i have traces of all of the seven sins in me! I believe in moderation, so i don't over do anything. And i guess it works just fine for me. But what do u do if there is excess of any of these sins in you? Do u ignore it, saying that it is normal or do u work towards controlling ur vices!?

A Desperate Woman Writes....

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and I noticed a distinct slowdown in the overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NEWS 5.0, MONEY 3.0 and CRICKET 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What should i do?
Desperate Woman

Reply:

DEAR DESPERATE Madam,

First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1.

Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend: Cooking 3.0 and Hot Looks 7.7.

Good Luck Madam!
Tech. Support

You Win Some, You Lose Some

Everytime I lose, Its an experience. Every time I win, Its an achievement.

Do we think about victory and/or loss in this way!? If we don't, i think we should start thinking this way, what say??

Find Your True Self

Took two interesting random quizzes at this website and got these equally interesting results:

Your Power Color Is Red-Orange

At Your Highest:

You are warm, sensitive, and focused on your personal growth.

At Your Lowest:
You become defensive and critical if you feel attacked.

In Love:
You are loyal - but you demand the respect you deserve.

How You're Attractive:
You are very affectionate and inspire trust.

Your Eternal Question:
"Am I Respected?"

I am so surprised with this result coz I must say this one's so true about me. I always believe that if a person doesn't respect u in a relationship then there's no point in the existence of the relationship. That's why i dislike ppl who degrade themselves to any levels to get someone! I totally feel that it's not worth it. I feel sad when i can see somebody demeaning themselves to have somebody stay in their life!

Your Beauty Element is Water

Feminine and dreamy, your beauty style is classic and very vintage.

But you never look out of style! You have a way of making classic looks modern again.

When in doubt, you go for what's tried and true. You're all about red lips and nails.

People consider you to be a timeless beauty.

What's Your Beauty Element?

About this result all i can do is sigh! Now i can't praise myself, can I? :) Try these quizzes and lemme know your results in the comments section or put it up on ur blog. Have a great weekend guys and gals. I plan to spend time with my family, bf and friends. Let's see how much of that am i able to do.

A Matter of Perception

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what you learned from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered:

"I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, Thanks Dad, for showing me how poor we are."

Isn't perception a wonderful thing?

If we all saw everything the same way, there is hardly anything to learn....

Next time someone disagrees with you remember that it is an opportunity to learn a new perception.
