I am loving it being here in London at the moment, everything around is awesome including the weather which is sunny and pleasant. :) Hubby dear has been taking really good care of me, given the fact that that i keep feeling homesick from time to time....miss mom n dad a lot but i am quite enjoying this new phase of my life!

Hubby has taken the Monday off for me, so i am off to see and explore more places around. Rest later, signing off for now. Stay good and all of you have a gr8 week ahead!!

Stayin' Alive

I am back, feels so good to be back to my own home sweet home!! The trip was a success, and the in-laws liked me, or so, i would like to believe. ;) Felt as if i was in a different world, everything looked so familiar yet it was different in some way or the other. After all every home has a different way of functioning. I am thankful though that the change wasn't that drastic, it was pretty manageable.

Mom-in-law made sure that i was fed well at all times, and his dad used to make tea for me (now isn't that so cute!). Got to relax a lot, that was when i was not assisting mom-in-law in the kitchen and other household chores. What i loved the most was to see her flaunting me, every time we met somebody she would quickly introduce me as her 'bahu' and that how i would be flying off to UK in a week's time.

Had a look at some of the old photo albums coz i wanted to know how hubby darling used to look as a child and damn i have fallen in love with Jr. K, he was oh so adorable as a kid (i have stolen a pic already)! Took the in-laws out for dinner at a nice place, liked the pleased look on their faces. Sang songs for them coz they had never heard me sing and they never knew that their 'bahu' sang so well (talk about modesty). :P

So all in all a noteworthy trip, hence this post goes out to them, my 2nd set of parents. Now who's going to give me a hug after reading this....who else but "The Husband" (now this one's due from your side baby)!! :D ;)

Life As We Know It

Human beings are a strange lot...Its strange how we wait all our life to grow up and come into our own, and when we reach that stage all we want to do is to go back to childhood (sounds familiar eh!).? We grow up only to realise how things were simpler back then....when life revolved around things like friends, chocolates, playing and sometimes studies. We never had to think of anything else, coz everything else was taken care of. Back then, we would wonder how cool it would be to go to college, to work and to be on your own.

One of the biggest myth that we grow on is that, once we grow up we won't be answerable to anybody! This myth gets shattered, gradually as we become adults, we realise that we are a lot more answerable as compared to what we were as kids. We are no longer answerable to just parents, we are also answerable to our boss at work, and if we are in a relationship we are largely answerable to our partner too. Then you get married and now you are answerable to a whole new set of people, your in-laws.

Things slowly start changing, not in reality but metaphorically, and u realise that its not going be the way it used to be earlier. U can no longer get away with the kind of mistakes that u used to commit when u were with your parents. There's nobody else like your parents, they are simply irreplaceable....and sadly most of us realise this when we are no longer living with them. This is when you are truly left on your own, there are expectations to be met, some said and some unsaid.

Wouldn't want to comment on what happens when either of these said or unsaid expectations are not met. But the consequences are certainly not desirable...I am sure there will be a lot of people who may beg to differ on this coz, perhaps their transition to the new life was not all that difficult. But i am sure there are others who have not been as lucky. Here's hoping that i don't fall into the latter category and hope everything goes well....hope my apprehensions remain just what they are called, apprehensions.

Marital Bliss

Hi All,

This is me posting from Goa, its been absolutely blissful so far. Life is going good, and i am taking each day as it comes. I can't seem to be finding the right words to express myself so i am leaving u with this song from 'Anjaana Anjaani' which totally matches my state of mind at the moment:

Teri meri teri meri kahaani, Ek daastan nayi puraani,
Chori chori yeh kahaani chali hai, Thehri thi jo tere aa jane tak (2)

Tere aane se maine jaana ke, Tu hi jeene ka hai bahana,
And I don't know why....but I feel good
Tere aane se maine jaana ke, Har safar ho gaya suhana,
And I don't know why....but I feel good...

Har disha, rasta naya, Har kahin raahein nayi,
Meri raahein tujhe paake tujh pe hi tham gayee,
Humsafar thi magar tu hi manzil ban gayee,
Teri meri teri meri kahaani yeh raastein likhte jaye bas...

Tere aane se maine jaana ke, Tu hi jeene ka hai bahana,
And I don't know why....but I feel good
Tere aane se maine jaana ke, Har safar ho gaya suhana,
And I don't know why....but I feel good...

Roshni aisi mili, Raat ka chehra khila yahaan,
Andhero se gile the jo maaf woh ho gaya,
The jo maile sheeshein dil ke saaf woh ho gaye,
Teri meri teri meri kahaani, Jaise raat ko subha mil jaye bas...

Tere aane se maine jaana ke, Tu hi jeene ka hai bahana,
And I don't know why....but I feel good
Tere aane se maine jaana ke, Har safar ho gaya suhana,
And I don't know why....but I feel good...

Destined to Be

Lost in a dreamlike state, where reality and illusion are hard to distinguish,
my love grows fonder with every second that passes.
Overjoyed in profound amusement, when light meets dark and all is new again,
my heart beats faster and grows with intense passion unresolved.

Vexed in ecstatic euphoria, where secrets unfold in sweet verse,
my gaze deepens into the eyes of the soul of the one which captivates my being.
Engulfed in magnificent bliss, when laughter succumbs a smile,
my senses heighten the very pleasures of which I deny myself no more.

Love what i am feeling like right now, just a week to go before we become man and wife on this very day next week. We are trying hard not to see each other, but as the wait is getting lesser with each passing day we can't help but share the excitement with each other. We met for coffee today but not before gorging on lots of mouth watering pani puri which we both so absolutely love. He says that he already feels married to me! :) I love the fact that despite being a guy he is as excited and kicked as me about the wedding.

Anyways, time to sleep. :) Goodnight everybody and sweet dreams!

It's Happening....

Yes i need to keep saying this to myself time and again coz its hard to believe that the d'day is just 8 days from today. K and me were discussing yesterday that although we will be man n wife a few days from now, it will take a while for the feeling to sink in. This could be coz we have been in a bf-gf stage for too long or mebbe coz its hard to believe that a dream that we have been seeing from such a  long time is finally coming true! :)

The last two days disappeared into thin air, literally. He came on Saturday, i was there to  pick him up at the airport....We reached home, spent some time with each other and then  we went off to shop. The last 2 days were totally dedicated to his shopping as it was not possible for him to do the same in London. We had made a list of things to be bought, just in case we forgot something. I have shopped so many times before, but this time it was different.

By yesterday evening, we were done with the entire list of things which included a sherwani, a suit, shirts, ties, shoes, a watch for both of us, perfumes, cuff links (yes he has started wearing cuff links ever since he's gone to UK, and trust me he looks hot in them!), i have always felt that he looks really good in formals. :) We took some time off to blow the stress at a pub on Saturday night, and we also saw 127 hours on Sunday night (i know it wasn't a very good choice for a couple but i had heard a lot about the movie, so had to see it). Liked the movie even though it got a bit sanguine by the end.

And here we are in Bhubaneswar, amidst the melee of people who are diligently working towards our wedding, it feels good n strange in a way. In fact when we were in the flight today, i was telling K how it still feels as if i am in a dream! But i know its not a dream...and all this is happening for real.

So this is me, the bride to be signing off as of now. Will keep u all posted on all the events happening around me. :) I may or may not be able to read all your blogs, so please do excuse me for that.

Love,
Ria

Baby I Like It!

This is what i would like to say to all the people who read this post that yes, "dreams do come true", if and only u believe in them. And even if one of ur dreams don't come true then i wud say go on and dream of something else....i am saying this coz a lot of people give up on themselves a bit too soon! Dreams also need to be backed with adequate passion and lots of patience coz sometimes it may take a while before ur dreams turn into reality.

When i was a little girl, i never really had those dreams of a Prince Charming or my Knight in shining armor. I never had a picture in mind as to how my dream man would be, but i was always a die-hard romantic and i still am. :) Today as i wait for my beau to come down from London to marry me (he's coming tomorrow) i have only one thing to say....Thank u God! The credit for this goes to luck/destiny as some may say....but i feel that some credit should go to the two of us as well.

Its only bcoz of our undying affection for each other that we could come this far....9 and a half years of being in love with someone who was never around except for that one yr when he was in Mumbai, was not easy to say the least. There were times when i would just hug the pillow and sleep alone, and then there were times when i felt so frustrated that i just felt like screaming out loud!

But luckily i was never weak enuff to let go off this relationship. I m saying this coz i know that it requires a lot of mental strength to make a long distance relationship work, i m sure ppl who have been there would agree with me on this one. Such a relationship demands a lot of time and trust too. Time is primary coz i have seen a lot of my college batchmates getting married in the recent past, and to think of it they were single when they were in college with me. I never really felt sad, but sometimes the distance was a bit too much for me to take.

A lot of my friends were baffled as to what did i really want in life....they never really understood, why would i not marry the guy who i have known half my life! But it dint matter as far as we knew what we wanted from life. And now that we have reached this stage, i feel lucky to have come this far! I am really happy for us and i can't wait to embark on this new journey of life called marriage. I Love U Baby and u bring out the best in me. *blows kisses*

Moment of Eternal Bliss

The day has finally arrived....the day that i had been dreaming of from the past 9 yrs is here. The stage is set and the preparations have begun.....i seem to be in a trance, is it me dreaming again or is it for real? I pinch myself to realise that, yes its happening....it's all true, i am getting married to the love of my life in February 2011. The feeling is yet to sink in but we are ecstatic and he's over the moon. Yes, i am blessed enough to have a man who's as excited as me, to get married. Thank you god!

All those days that i'd cried and sulked, for not having him around me are now over. There's just so much to do that i dunno where to begin from, i need to get my wedding trousseau in place, need to shop for so many things, put in my papers at work & last but certainly not the least get all the documents that will be needed to apply for the visa in order. Phew! Ok let me not crib and make a list of things to do, now that should certainly help. I am in a state of disarray, so i may not be able to write anything else right now.

Wish me loads of luck people coz i will be needing it. :) Signing off for now, i will certainly keep all of you posted on the events from here on.

:( :( *Sniff Sniff*

I am feeling terrible...i dunno why do i have to act so immature and stupid at times!? Yes, i know i overreacted and the one who had to bear the brunt of it was you my sweetheart. :( Sorry love, i know i tend to take the liberty of going over board with emotions when i am upset or angry with u. I should have waited for things to clear up a bit....i just lost my cool, i think i need to practice taking some deep breaths when i get angry *tries to practice it right away* ok, will try that later. I dunno what to do to make myself feel better at the moment, coz the one word that describes what i feel is: Terrible!

I am becoming increasingly impatient with passing time....I want time to run....no wait I want time to fly asap! I can't wait for that day in Feb when we will get married....I can't wait for UK VFS to give me the visa....I can't wait to go to London and start staying with u....I can't wait to cook for u and see the priceless expression on ur face...I can't wait to snuggle up with u on cold winter nights in one blanket....I can't wait to feel ur warm breath on my neck. And there's more, I can't wait to see all the new places in and around London with u....I can't wait to shop with u in London. :D

There's just so much that i am looking forward to and that's what making me impatient. I can hear the song "Be with you" by Enrique playing in my head. I want to be with u baby....like right now! Miss u tons....no truck loads....which one is more!? *looks confused* Anyways, forget it! Love u baby and i am really sorry for being so rude.

Love & Marriage

?Love is holding hands on the street.
Marriage is having arguments on the street.

Love is cuddling on the sofa.
Marriage is one of them sleeping on the sofa.

Love is talking about having children.
Marriage is talking about getting away from children.

Love is going to bed early.
Marriage is going to sleep early.

Love is losing your appetite.
Marriage is losing your figure.

Love is sweet nothings in the ear.
Marriage is sweet nothing in the bank.

Tv has no place in love.
Marriage is a fight for remote control.

Love is 1 drink and 2 straws.
Marriage is "Don't you think you've had enough!".

Conclusion:
"Love is blind, Marriage is an eye opener!"

Wish you all a relaxing weekend. Rest well. :)

Different Minds think Differently

Last night Harry and his wife were sitting in the living room, talking about life. In between they talked about the idea of living and dying.

He said to her: Darling never let me live in a vegetative state, totally dependent on machines and liquids from a bottle. If you see me in that state I want you to disconnect all the contraptions that are keeping me alive, I'd much rather die.

His wife got up from the sofa with this real look of admiration towards him, and proceeded to disconnect the TV cable, the dish, the DVD player, the computer, the cell phone, the ipod, and the Xbox, and then went on to the bar and threw away all his whisky, rum, gin, vodka & the beer in the fridge.

HE ALMOST DIED!!

The moral of the story is: Think before you wish for something.

Wish you all a happy and fun filled weekend! :)

Couple Capers

Tumblr_la3qxmd2hc1qa2txho1_500_large

Two women chatting at work:

Woman 1: I had a fine evening yesterday, how was yours?

Woman 2: It was a disaster. My husband came home, ate his dinner in three minutes and fell asleep in two minutes. How was yours?

Woman 1: Oh, it was amazing! My husband came home and took me out for a romantic dinner. After dinner we walked for an hour. When we came home he lit candles around the house and afterwards we talked for an hour. It was like a fairytale!

At the same time, their husbands are talking at work:

Husband 1: How was your evening?

Husband 2: Great. I came home, dinner was on the table, I ate and fell asleep. It was so good! What about you?

Husband 1: It was horrible. I came home, there's no dinner because they cut the electricity as I hadn't paid the bill. So I had to take my wife out for dinner which was so expensive that I didn't have money left for a cab. We had to walk back home which took an hour; and when we got home since there was no electricity I had to light candles all over the house! After all of that, I was so aggravated that I couldn't fall asleep and my wife was jabbering away for another hour!

Sigh....such is life! It all depends on how u interpret things. Isn't it! Wish you all a gr8 week ahead. :)

What Men Think....

Once the police arrested a drunkard & asked: Where are you going?
Man: I'm going to listen a lecture on the ill effects of drinking.
Cop: Who'll lecture you at midnite?
Man: My wife.

Q: Why do women live longer than men?
A: Shopping never causes heart attacks, but paying the bill does!

Q: What's the difference between Complete and Finished?
A: If you find a good wife you are complete, else you are finished.

Two men were having a conversation.
1st: I got married coz I was tired of eating out, cleaning the house, doing the laundry & wearing shabby clothes.
2nd: Amazing, I just got divorced for the very same reasons!

Wife: If I remove the cook and cook food for a whole month, what will you pay me?
Husband: I won't have to pay you, you'll get my entire insurance amount.

Law Professor: Which is the most important Law of Finance for starting a new business?
Student: Father-in-Law!

The Shoebox

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything, they had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet, that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said that she would not recover. Trying to sort out their affairs, the old man got the shoe box down took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents.

'When we were to be married,' she said, ' my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.' The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box.

She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst out with happiness.

'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?'

'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'

To Be 6 Again!

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his wife, who was looking at herself in the mirror.

Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday. 'I'd like to be six again', she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her birthday, he woke up early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco pops. He then took her to Six Flags theme park.

He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.

Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Then they were off to a movie with popcorn, soda pop, and her favourite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally, she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being six again?'

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.

'I meant my dress size, you retard!!'

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong!

Hope ppl don't kill me with their questions on my wedding (that seems to be the most common topic of discussion btw!). Wonder how am i affecting them by not getting married....As someone has very rightly/wisely said that "You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family", especially the relatives.

Anyways, bye guys n gals and hope to cya around soon with pics and updates of my vacation. Love you all! *blows kisses*

A Welcome Change

Finally the change that i have been looking for is here!! My membership with the gym has expired today. The routine of coming back from work and rushing off to gym is now broken. :) And the best thing to happen to me is the block leave (a compulsory leave of 10 days or more). Just what i was looking for. Its been long since i did something different, the last time i did something different was in April when i had gone to Goa for 3 days, the trip was gr8 but definitely short. It's time that i do something new so that i can get out of the rut that i am stuck in!!

So here it is, this Saturday i will be flying down to Bhubaneswar (those who don't know about this place click on it). I am going there for my cousin's wedding. Yes, my closest cousin who i literally grew up with is gonna get married on the 29th of June 2009, which is also coincidentally my brother's marriage anniversary. :) I still remember the times when i was on school, i used to look forward to the summer vacations coz as soon as they wud start, we would be off to Bhubaneswar for a long vacation.

The best part abt vacations was meeting my cousins and this cousin in particular coz she's just one yr elder to me, so we wud mostly do everything together. But i must say amongst the two of us she was the angel and i was but obvious, the little devil! :P On one hand she was this sweet, little, obedient gurl who wud always listen to what her parents said. And on the other hand, i was a complete rebel who always did what she felt like. I never liked to obey anyone blindly, i wouldn't jus do something coz i hav been asked to do so! In fact i still don't do that. :P That's coz i always do things that i am convinced about, if i am not convinced abt something, i won't do it, no matter what! So we would play all those silly games which i don't even want to mention here. ;)

Everything has remained pretty much the same, she's still the obedient, sweet and industrious girl. And i still pretty much am the rebel, if u wud like to call me so. She's going to marry a guy who has been chosen by her parents. They feel he will keep her happy coz he's passed from an IIM and he's financially well off! And i still being the gurl i am, have chosen my life partner on my own and will marry him when we feel we hav achieved what it takes to have a comfortable life together. I wudn't want to marry someone jus bcoz i am growing old or some other random reason!

Coming back to the point, i am not trying to ridicule anybody here. There are tons of gurls like my cousin who go the arranged marriage way every yr, each and every day. I would actually like to appreciate their guts coz i don't have the guts to marry someone who i hardly know, i can' t marry someone who i have met just once! I mean, hello! this is the man who i am going to spend my whole life with!! How can i assume that i will be happy with him just bcoz he has passed out from an xyz b-school and that he earns a 6 figure salary. I think it definitely doesn't work this way, i think when it comes to arranged marriage, most of the people just assume a couple of things or probably they are a sure bunch of optimistic people who wud like to believe that everything will be fine. Or another corollary to this is that mebbe i think too much!! Its best to plunge into a marriage headlong, without thinking of what will or will not happen.

All i can say here is "To each his own". As of now i just wanna let my hair down, enjoy the wedding and the celebrations and come back with a fresh mind to resume office. And i also have to think of an interesting way of work out. I know i still have the option of renewing my gym membership, but i m sorta bored of running on the tread mill and pumping iron. I want to do something new and different viz. kick-boxing, tai-chi, power yoga or pilates!? What say people, any suggestions?? I will do my research once i come back. As of now my bags are packed and i am off the the land where the wedding bells are tolling. :) This is not my last post b4 the break. So i am not saying a bye as yet!
