Life As We Know It

Human beings are a strange lot...Its strange how we wait all our life to grow up and come into our own, and when we reach that stage all we want to do is to go back to childhood (sounds familiar eh!).? We grow up only to realise how things were simpler back then....when life revolved around things like friends, chocolates, playing and sometimes studies. We never had to think of anything else, coz everything else was taken care of. Back then, we would wonder how cool it would be to go to college, to work and to be on your own.

One of the biggest myth that we grow on is that, once we grow up we won't be answerable to anybody! This myth gets shattered, gradually as we become adults, we realise that we are a lot more answerable as compared to what we were as kids. We are no longer answerable to just parents, we are also answerable to our boss at work, and if we are in a relationship we are largely answerable to our partner too. Then you get married and now you are answerable to a whole new set of people, your in-laws.

Things slowly start changing, not in reality but metaphorically, and u realise that its not going be the way it used to be earlier. U can no longer get away with the kind of mistakes that u used to commit when u were with your parents. There's nobody else like your parents, they are simply irreplaceable....and sadly most of us realise this when we are no longer living with them. This is when you are truly left on your own, there are expectations to be met, some said and some unsaid.

Wouldn't want to comment on what happens when either of these said or unsaid expectations are not met. But the consequences are certainly not desirable...I am sure there will be a lot of people who may beg to differ on this coz, perhaps their transition to the new life was not all that difficult. But i am sure there are others who have not been as lucky. Here's hoping that i don't fall into the latter category and hope everything goes well....hope my apprehensions remain just what they are called, apprehensions.
