I have often seen people using mugs as pen pots, so perhaps charging £23 for this item is unjustified. Yet I must admit, there is something oddly intriguing about it. In fact, I can even tell you what I would put where... some coloured paperclips in the smallest cup, rubber bands and a ball of blue tack in the medium pot, and all my pens and pencils in the tall cup.

Don't submit to boring, plastic, office accessories when there are far more aesthetic alternatives. Gaskins isn’t the only one with a Web site that pokes fun at the inappropriate and sometimes disastrous uses of PowerPoint. But he’s indeed unique—he’s one of the two people who invented the program. Gaskins’ site is symbolic of the irony surrounding Microsoft’s ubiquitous presentation tool.

 

PowerPoint is undeniably a well-regarded piece of software that’s universally employed to help people give presentations, yet some experts maintain that many presenters can do a better job by not using it.

Some subject their audiences to dozens of slides, each packed to the gills with tiny, unreadable text. They’ll waste the audience’s time with pointless, repetitive animations and transitions. And worst of all, they’ll turn their backs to their audiences and read each slide aloud—verbatim.

 

What’s Wrong with PowerPoint?

A number of presentation consultants for executives fault PowerPoint because it focuses attention on the wrong thing. According to LeeAundra Temescu, a communications consultant who produces a podcast called The Contrary Public Speaker, “PowerPoint does more harm than good because it becomes the focus of the presentation instead of you.”

 

The impact of a presentation, she explained, comes from the power of the speaker’s presence. “Anything that detracts or compromises the presence of the speaker renders the presentation at best unnecessary and at worst counterproductive and damaging to the speaker,” she added.

A basic problem with PowerPoint is that it adds a certain amount of rigidity to a presentation; there’s little room for spontaneity. When, for example, an audience member comes up with a good, new idea, there’s no easy way to incorporate that into the slides, as you could with a whiteboard or a flip chart.

Another aspect of that rigidity is time. Tom Antion, a small-business Internet marketing expert and professional speaker who operates powerpointstinks.com, points out that very often a speaker’s time will be cut. Antion  enjoys watching PowerPoint presenters try to make up for that lost time: “They have to scramble through a bunch of slides and look like idiots up there,” he said.

 

How to Present Without PowerPoint

Yes, it’s possible to take a pass on PowerPoint. And it’s not that hard. “Trust your words,” said Temescu. “Start having faith in and rely on your unique knowledge and passion rather than the insidious crutch that is PowerPoint,” she said in one of her podcasts. “You’ll be exponentially more effective for it.”

Also, keep in mind that visuals don’t have to be on a PowerPoint slide. “The best aren’t,” Temescu said. A sample of a product and a copy of the article you’re quoting “truly add to the impact of a presentation.”

Cliff Atkinson, author of Beyond Bullet Points, recommends sketching on a whiteboard or a flip chart. “Just as you do when you effectively use PowerPoint,” he said, “use your alternative visual tools to prompt conversation with your audience and make them feel ownership in the experience.”

Instead of PowerPoint, Antion uses demonstration videos created with Camtasia Studio. “One of the reasons this is so effective is because people have not seen it.” And if his time is reduced, “I can just pick and choose what videos I want to play.”

Using videos also has the advantage of bypassing potential technical problems. Antion says that with videos, “you can demonstrate stuff without depending on the crappy Internet connections that are in hotels.” In fact,

 

Antion gets a kick out of seeing other presenters cope with these problems. “I sit back there, and I kind of laugh at these people because I figure that the more they screw up, the more money is left in here for me.”

PowerPoint for You (Only)

You can still use PowerPoint, of course, but just for yourself. It works really well as a tool for organizing your thoughts. And on a small laptop screen on the podium, it can serve as a good teleprompter.

After surviving a few PowerPoint-free presentations, you may have a better idea of how to best use the program. Temescu advises her clients to start adding visuals back into their talks according to two simple criteria: Will the visual convey the information more efficiently than words alone? Or, will the visual convey the information more effectively than words alone? “If you can say yes to either one,” she said, “then you include that slide.”

Whatever way you present, certain ground rules always apply. As Atkinson told us, “If presenters lack an effective methodology for distilling ideas and structuring a story, they will present ineffective presentations both when they use PowerPoint, and when they do not use it. If they sharpen their critical thinking and story skills instead, they will be in a much better position to succeed."

How To Bridge The PlayBook To A BlackBerry Phone

Sure, you can access web-based mail and calendars on the BlackBerry PlayBook, but if you want to use RIM’s own apps on this tablet, you need BlackBerry Bridge. This feature enables users to connect a BlackBerry smart phone to the slate and access the following apps: BlackBerry Messenger, Bridge Browser (web surfing over 3G), Calendar, Contacts, MemoPad, Messages, and Tasks. All of the data streams to the PlayBook from your BlackBerry phone. That means when the two devices are not connected you can’t access these apps.

Here’s how to set up BlackBerry Bridge on the BlackBerry PlayBook. For this how-to, we used the BlackBerry Torch phone.

Pair your BlackBerry phone (OS 5.0 and up) to the PlayBook using Bluetooth.

On the BlackBerry PlayBook, click on the Bluetooth icon in the status bar on the top of the screen, and flip the Bluetooth switch on.

Click on the Bluetooth icon, then make sure the Discoverable option is turned on. Now tap Add New Device, but make sure your phone’s Bluetooth connection is on and that it’s also set to Discoverable.

Tap Search on the next screen on the PlayBook. Your smart phone should be displayed. In our case, it was the BlackBerry 9800.

   Select your phone, and you’ll see a six-digit pairing code pop up on both the PlayBook and the BlackBerry handset. Tap Yes to confirm that the numbers match to conclude the pairing process.
   
2. Download the BlackBerry Bridge App to your smart phone.
   The easiest way to get the BlackBerry Bridge app on your smart phone is to open the BlackBerry Bridge option under Settings on the PlayBook. Start by selecting your BlackBerry phone.
   A screen will pop up saying “Unable to connect BlackBerry Bridge with BlackBerry 9800 [or whichever Blackberry phone you own]. Please ensure BlackBerry Bridge is installed on your smartphone and turned on.” At the bottom of this screen, tap Install Now.
   
   On the next screen you’ll see a funky-looking barcode to the right and download instructions for your phone on the left.
   
3. • On your smart phone, open BlackBerry App World, press the menu key, and click Scan a Barcode. Point your phone at the barcode to scan it, then click download to install BlackBerry Bridge on your phone.
     Connect Your Phone to the PlayBook via the BlackBerry Bridge App.
     Open the BlackBerry Bridge app on your phone and turn the feature on.
     Go to the BlackBerry PlayBook and select the phone you want to connect to within the BlackBerry Bridge option in the settings menu.
     You’ll see a message on your phone asking if you want to Accept Connection Request From PlayBook. Tap Yes on your phone. You can also feel free to check the box that says Don’t Show This Message Again.
   On the PlayBook you’ll see the following message: BlackBerry Bridge installed and smartphone pairing complete.
   

You’re All Done: All you have to do now is go back to the home screen and tap BlackBerry Bridge to access your BlackBerry e-mail, calendar, contacts, and more.

A dual core processor therefore is actually 2 processors in one. A quad core is 4 processors in 1. Generally the more "cores" you have the faster your laptop should be. The "core speed" is how fast these processors can perform calculations. Think of it as a car, the faster it can get from 0-60mph the quicker it will get from A-B. Same with the processor, the faster the clock speed the faster it will run programs.

Other less important factors to consider are:

Front side bus speeds: The higher this is the better, written in MHz (e.g. 667MHz or 800MHz)

Cache Size: The larger the better, written as Mb (e.g. 2MB Cache , 4MB Cashe)

Laptop Memory (RAM)

The processor needs somewhere to store all of its calculations while its working away. This is what the RAM is used for. If you do not have enough RAM your processor will be slowed down as it does not have enough "work space" to store data it is working on. Think of it as having to walk back and forth to a storage room as you do not have everything you need at hand to build whatever you are making.

In General the more RAM your laptop has the better. RAM is measured in GBs (e.g. 2GB, 4GBs of RAM). Additionally, like the processor the ram has a clock speed too. Just like with the processor the faster the better (e.g. 667MHz, 800MHz).

When buying a laptop, look for the largest quantity of RAM with the highest clock speed.

Graphics Card

The graphics card is absolutely vital if you want to play games on your laptop. For the gamer a laptop should be chosen primarily on the power of the graphics card. A graphics card will also have a clock speed, once again the higher the better. It also has memory, once again the more and the faster it is the better.

The best method for distinguishing between graphics cards is to search for a review of the card where they compare its performance with other cards. Be aware that majority of laptops have incredibly weak "integrated" graphics which will struggle to play any new game.

Look for a dedicated Graphics card if you are a gamer. Students, office users and internet surfers dont need to pay much attention to graphics power.

Hard Drive

This is where you store all your files and programs. The bigger the number measured in GBs the more space you will have for your files (e.g. 250GB).

2. Unzip the file. Connect USB drive to your computer. Format it.

3. In downloaded file, go to: "USB Thief Modified by TRICKS4INDYA" folder -> "Copy" folder and copy all the files in "Copy" folder. Paste all the files in USB drive.

Note: Don't copy the folder, copy files in the folder (I hope you've got the point).

4. Now, in USB drive, hit on "hideh.bat" file which makes all the files in USB drive hidden. Delete "hideh.bat" file.

Di bagian atas halaman ada box yang digunakan untuk memasukkan keyword. Misalnya kita masukkan kata berikut: AMD, intel maka akan muncul grafik seperti ini.

Keterangan gambar

1. Kata kunci yang dimasukkan bisa 1 atau lebih dari satu
2. Grafik jumlah orang yang mencari kata kunci tersebut di google (dalam contoh ini, intel - garis merah, dan amd = garis biru)
3. Jumlah berita sehubungan kata kunci
