Men Have Better Friends!!

First for some interesting piece of info:
The owners of the Sears Tower, the tallest skyscraper in the United States (Chicago), inaugurated four glass box viewing platforms last week. These balconies are suspended 1,353 ft (412 meters) in the air on the 103rd floor! They are 10ft high and 10ft wide and can hold 5 tons with their 1.5 inch thick glasses. Really impressive and definitively not for the people who have Vertigo...
.

And now the justification for why men have better friends:

Friendship amongst Women:

A woman didn't come home one night. The next morning she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house. The man called his wife's 10 best friends. None of them knew anything about it!!

Friendship amongst Men:

A man didn't come home one night. The next morning he told his wife that he had slept over at a friend's house. The woman called her husband's 10 best friends. Eight confirmed that he had slept over, and two said he was still there!! :)

Now that's some proof that men have better friends!! What say guys? ;)

Longing for ....

When you go away,
On your trip around the world,

Dont forget to pack my heart with you.

It wont take much room,

Folded up and slipped between the pages of your book,

Like some tattered piece of lace

Or dried out rose petal, saved for remembrance...

Be careful not to let it flutter to the ground

Lost in some distant, ancient erg,

Or be swept away by the wind

To some far off grassy land.

Instead, save it for a dark, cold and lonely night

When your soul is weary, and you realise

That somewhere, someone is longing for you....

Blank for the Moment

Yesterday was so good, mom came back home after three weeks!! This is the longest that she stayed away from her family. But we didn't mind coz it was for granny (i had mentioned before about her hip bone fracture) and she was needed there. Just when we were beginning to believe that everything's gonna be alright, things have taken a bad turn.

Today morning mom got a call from my uncle confirming that granny has been admitted to the ICU early morning coz she fainted after getting epileptic fits. As of now we have no clue as to why this happened, but tests are being conducted on her. And things will get clear only after the reports are out. As of now we are praying for her well being.

"I hope god is listening!"

Beach Bum Are You?

These are some the most unusually beautiful beaches that i am gonna talk about here:

You may need to wear your shades when visiting Hyams Beach in New South Wales, Australia, but not just due to the sun! It's not surprising after looking at the pic above that this sublime stretch of beach is home to the whitest sand in the world, an honour awarded by the Guinness Book of Records. Hey Keshi, have u been there gurl??

Punalu'u Beach is the most visited of the few black sand beaches on Hawaii's Big Island and the stunningly black sand is actually volcanic rock, deposited as lava and subsequently cooled when met by the ocean. Apparently to take any of the sand home would result in you being cursed by a volcano goddess by the name of Pele. Scary huh!

One of the only 2 green sand beaches in the world, the truly magnificent sight of Papakolea Beach can be experienced by travelling to Hawaii's Ka'u district. Again, the unique colour of its sand can be attributed to volcanic activity - specifically, the green hue belongs to the abundance of olivine crystals which have been produced as a result of a nearby cinder cone erupting and eroding. Isn't that beautiful!! :)

The hills surrounding Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, California, are rich in Manganese Garnet. A result of this being washed down onto the beach is the colour scheme you can see above - the entire stretch of sand has become a shifting, pink and purple canvas. Although it's probably inedible, I can't help picturing a bowl of Raspberry Ripple ice-cream every time I see it!! :P

You won't find many beaches elsewhere in the world with sand as red as this one. Kaihalulu, or Red Sand Beach, is situated on the island of Maui, Hawaii and can thank the neighbouring cindercone hill for its intensely deep red appearance. This hill is rich in iron, and is the reason why the beach's sand is such a deep red.

I hope i am able to visit at least a couple of them before i die. So its me signing off on this thought. Have a gr8 weekend guys and gals! :)

Honesty is the Best Policy

Not that i believe in the title of my post. Honesty may not always be the best policy, i can clearly remember times when honesty has lead to disaster!! This post is definitely not about the misadventures i have had for being honest, its about being rewarded for a change. Saim has awarded me with the "Honest Scrap Award". And this award comes with a tag along......I have to list down 10 truths about myself before accepting this award. (talk about the*conditions apply* award) :P :) So here i go:

1. Although i come across as a complete extrovert, i actually enjoy spending time with myself. In fact there are days when i just don't feel like going out. I would rather be on my own than meeting up with friends or my bf for that matter.

2. It might sound strange but I used to hate everything about myself till class 9th or so....Dunno what happened after that though coz if u ask me now, i really love myself and still can't figure out as to why i used to hate myself so much!

3. I have never planned anything in my life, everything that i have done so far, be it doing my graduation or be it my MBA has happened in due course of time. There was a time when i never had any long term plans for the future (although i do have a clear picture now).

4. Although i may come across as a very happy go lucky kinda person who doesn't take tension in life, it might come as a surprise to many that i actually get tensed very easily! Its just that i am good at camouflaging it! :P

5. I am a weird mixture of a person who likes to plan things and is highly organized but at the same time i like doing things spontaneously as well!!

6. Although i am not an atheist, but i am also not really fond of going to temples. I can't even remember when was it last that i went to a temple! I really need a strong reason to visit a temple (read my parents dragging me along with them).

7. I just can't understand how and why do people commit mistakes in English! Pardon me for being apathetic coz i feel English is one of the easiest languages that i have known till date. In fact i can't remember having ever studied for an English exam, and yet i would score marks like 89/100. :) No wonder English was always my favorite subject!!

8. I love writing and i have been writing from the time when i was in class 9th. I used to write a diary till last yr. And i stopped only coz i started my own blog. :)

9. I lack one quality which most of the people around me have in abundance, and that's jealousy. Its unusually true that i don't feel jealous of anybody or anything! I know its hard to believe but that's how i am.

10. Another strange quality i possess is that of being ambitious as well as content. Although i want to strive for the better, but at the same time there's no such unrest in my life. I don't have too many cribs as such. :)

Well, i am done. This tag did force me to think a lot. Wasn't that tough though, coz i anyways think a lot! :P Enjoy the rest of the week coz its Wednesday already.

Tip Tip Barsa Paani

Yesterday brought back sweet memories of childhood to my mind.....Its been raining like anything here in Mumbai from the past two days. And like always everything around has gone for a toss. The roads, the railway tracks, the localities and the lakes are all flooded causing trouble for the Mumbaikars.

Yesterday nobody worked much in office coz everybody was busy watching the news for updates on the rain. Post lunch all the school children were sent back home, and just when i was missing being a school kid, i was asked to leave coz everybody around was fearing for the worse....So off i went and i reached back home by 5.30 p.m! (a real luxury for somebody who doesn't reach home before 7.45 p.m)

And then i did what i love doing the most, i curled up on my bed with a cup of hot coffee and the laptop in front. I hopped, skipped and jumped thru all my favourite blogs and watched the rain from my balcony. :) I just love watching it rain, and i so missed being wrapped up in the tight embrace of my lover's arms. How i wish i had my bf with me, it would have been so amazing coz when i am with him time just flies by!

Anyways, Harry Potter: The Half blood Prince is releasing tomorrow and i like any other Harry Potter fan would not like to miss it for sure. I am gonna go and watch it on Saturday with my love. I hope it turns out to be good coz i hadn't liked "The Order of the Phoenix" that much. Till then cya people and have a gr8 week ahead!! :)

And Here Goes Monday....

Phew!! I somehow managed to wade thru Monday....it felt like an exam, although it wasn't as difficult as one! :) It took me a while to settle down though, since i was gone for 2 weeks my inbox had been bombarded by tonnes of mails (1100 to be precise!). One can very well imagine the amount of time it must have taken for me to sort them out, delete the unnecessary stuff and save the relevant ones.

Inevitably i had got a couple of forwards too and when i got the time to go thru them i found some of them to be really nice and interesting. This is one such forward which touched my heart:

Aren't all of them just wonderful!! Simple quotes which are worth remembering for life! If u ask me i can't jus pick one coz i loved all of them. But u can tell me which one did u like the most and why?

Lord Save the Soul

It's over!! My block leave is over....and i will be going back to work on this Monday after 2 blissful weeks, which disappeared in no time. :( I hav never been so blue on a weekend!!

I think i need a time machine, so that i can go back in time, or perhaps i need something that can help me pause the time!! No, on 2nd thoughts i think a time machine would be better, who wants to be stuck in time!? Not me at least!

Anyways, all of u hav a gr8 fun filled weekend!! While i try to figure out as to how to get over the weekend blues, will listening to "I am blue" by Eiffel 65 help?? :|
